Analyzed over 10 million rows of system log data to assess circumstances surrounding failure of a large-format industrial printer.
A large-format industrial printer was reportedly damaged by lightning and was experiencing intermittent failures. I was provided with a system log dump including over 10 million rows of text data from several subsystems. I examined the system log for evidence of the validity of the lightning strike claim, abnormalities which could assist with the origin and cause investigation, as well as assessing the pre-loss and post-loss behaviour of the printer for evidence that damages were loss related.
